LASG Debunks Commencement Of Sanitation Exercise
The Lagos State Government (LASG) has debunked reports that there will be an environmental sanitation exercise on Saturday, June 9th, 2019.
The state government made this known through a statement which was made available to Ekohotblog.com by Gboyega Akosile, the Deputy Chief Press Secretary to the Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
According to him, the news about the sanitation exercise which has been making rounds on divers social media networks which includes Whatsapp, Facebooks, among others is false.
He made it known that the Governor has only signed an executive order against improper dumping of refuse within the state, stressing that information about environmental sanitation would be made known at the appropriate time.
It read, “Our attention has been drawn to a piece of information being shared on social media and WhatsApp group, which states that there will be an environmental sanitation exercise on Saturday as a result of an Executive Order signed by His Excellency, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu on his day 1 in office as Governor of Lagos State.
“We urge Lagosians to kindly ignore the message. Although Governor Sanwo-Olu signed an Executive Order against indiscriminate and illegal dumping of waste in the State, conversation on the return of the monthly environmental sanitation exercise is still a proposal.
“Lagosians will be notified appropriately when the monthly environmental sanitation exercise is to commence.”
