The Lagos State Government on Tuesday hosted pensioners to a grand reception to mark the annual pensioners’ day, restating its determination to give needed attention to the welfare of the senior citizens.
The event was hosted by the Civil Service Pensions Office of the Lagos State Ministry of Establishments, Training and Pensions in Anchor Events Centre, Agidingbi, Ikeja.
The Commissioner for Establishments, Training, and Pensions, Mrs. Ajibola Yewande Ponnle, described the retirees as one of the most important groups of people, whose contributions to national development should always be celebrated.

She noted that the life experiences accumulated by the retirees over the course of their long sojourn on earth should be cherished and appreciated by any discerning government.
Ponnle said that the purpose of the gathering was to recognize the invaluable contribution of the pensioners to the development of the State.
The Commissioner reiterated her confidence in the government’s commitment to making life meaningful for pensioners and ensuring that life is worth living socially and economically for everyone.
