LASG, NPF, Traffic Agencies Tackle Tincan-apapa Mayhem

Lagos State Government, alongside security and traffic management agencies, has vowed to take decisive action against offenders in the Tincan-Apapa Corridor.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Hon. Sola Giwa, announced that raids will commence to rid the area of miscreants and unauthorized personnel posing as traffic and security agents.

Giwa condemned the acts of vandalism and extortion as economic sabotage and emphasized that toll collection on Lagos roads is strictly prohibited.

He assured truckers that all contentious issues would be addressed in collaboration with stakeholders.

The government will provide resources and support to ensure smooth operations for truckers.

DCP Tijani Fatai pledged the Nigerian Police Force’s full support, urging truckers to report incidents.

The meeting resolved that representatives from the Transport and Truckers’ Unions would meet regularly to develop actionable solutions.

The abrogation of toll collection from truckers servicing the ports was also agreed upon.

The meeting ended with truckers suspending their planned strike action. Key stakeholders, including the Nigerian Ports Authority, Department of State Security, and LASTMA, were in attendance.

The Lagos State Government’s swift response to the truckers’ grievances has brought relief to the Tincan-Apapa Corridor, ensuring the free flow of traffic and commerce.

The collaborative effort between the government, security agencies, and stakeholders has created a conducive environment for truckers to operate, boosting the economy and ensuring public safety.
