LASG Pays Army School Condolence Visit Following Murder Of Former Staff

• Students Urged to Embrace Peace.
• Annual Inter-House Sports Fiesta Suspended in Epe Zone.

The Lagos State Government, LASG, under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has extended condolences to members of staff and students of Army Children Junior and Senior High Schools over the tragic killing of Mr Saheed Ahmed, popularly known as “Morgan.”

Eko Hot Blog reported earlier how Mr Saheed, a teacher at the Government-owned school was killed after assailants trailed him to his recently established electronics shop in Poka community, Epe, on the wee hours of Friday 19th November 2021.

According to reliable sources, the Tutor-General and Permanent Secretary of Education District III, Dr Mrs Yinka Ayandele, visited the school on Monday morning, where she separately addressed both the staff and students of the post-primary educational institution.

Also present at the meeting were the National treasurer of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Otunba Segun Raheem, Epe-NUT Chairman, Comrade Shakirudeen Sanni, Epe ANCOPSS Chairman, Mrs Jonah, School Support Unit Director, Pastor Osho, Mrs Mosunmola Adefuye and a host of others.

As gathered, dysphoria and grief rented the air as the Permanent Secretary addressed visibly distraught students and staff of the school.

Urging the academic and non-academic staff to summon courage to move past the tragic event, she also enjoined them to aid in every way possible as investigations to unravel the detailed circumstances of Mr Saheed’s murder is carried out.

After a closed-door meeting with the staff, Dr Ayandele proceeded to meet with the students, whose distraught faces spoke volumes about the character and personality of the deceased.

Addressing the students, she urged them to take comfort in God’s word and also conduct their lives in a manner that would make their now departed teacher immensely proud.

In a related development, the TG/PS directed that all activities relating to the annual Inter-House sports across Epe Zone be suspended indefinitely in honour of the deceased as well as for security reasons.

This was contained in a memo directed to all Principals across the Education District, and made available to Eko Hot Blog.

Others, including Eti-Osa, Lagos-Island and Ibeju-Lekki, were also directed to suspend the referenced activities in their zones.
