LASG Skills Up Parents of Out-of-School Children
Lagos State Ministry for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) has successfully concluded the Life Skill Economic Empowerment Programme (LEEP).
This innovative initiative, held in collaboration with the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), aimed to equip parents of out-of-school children with essential skills and resources for economic independence.
Commissioner Bolaji Dada praised the participants for their enthusiasm and dedication, acknowledging the vital role of empowering women in achieving sustainable development.
“As we empower women with skills and resources, we are not only lifting individuals out of poverty but also transforming families,” she emphasized.

The programme featured an array of workshops, health talks, and practical training sessions in various fields, including entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and vocational skills.
Participants received certificates and starter kits to kick-start their businesses, expressing gratitude to the Lagos State government for the opportunity to learn and grow.
This empowering initiative is part of the state government’s efforts to ensure no child is left behind and every individual has access to economic opportunities.
The Ministry has also organized a similar programme for staff preparing for retirement, demonstrating its commitment to enriching lives and building a more prosperous society.
