The Lagos state government on Wednesday has supported twenty-three young innovators and technology firms with N100 million to embark on any possible technology-driven innovations across the six pillars of the development agenda of the state.
The awardees were chosen through a highly tested proceedings carried out by the Lagos State Science Research And Innovation Council (LASRIC). This innovation council was established by Governnor Babajide Sanwoolu in 2019, with the aim to ensure and enhance the growth of the innovative solutions to tackle local problems, using technology.
The awardees are the first beneficiaries to be chosen to benefit from the N250 million seed capital marked, last year, as research and innovation fund by the state government.

Sanwo-olu revealed that the science and technology will keep on enabling socio-economic transformation, commitment to application of technology, innovation to drive improve service delivery and transport management, healthcare, education waste management, security and governance.
The Governor’s special adviser on innovations and technology, Hon.Olatunbosun Alake, said the innovation was a very genuine one and as such, council would ensure assistance to government of the state in helping the course of humanity using material resources in Lagos for solving problems, creating wealth, and transformation of the state’s economy.
