EKO HOT BLOG reports that a delegation from the Lagos State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board (LSCPWB) visited Rt. Rev. Akinpelu Johnson, the board’s chairman, to offer condolences for the passing of his father, The Very Rev. Samuel Akinsope Johnson, who passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2022.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Religious Matters (Christian), Very Rev. Bukola Adeleke, who was in charge of the delegation, noted that although Pa Akinsope Johnson’s passing was a great loss to his family and the church as a whole, the deceased had lived a full life in the service of both God and humanity.

The State Government’s condolence letter was delivered to the family on behalf of the Honourable Commissioner for Home Affairs, Prince Anofiu Olanrewaju Elegushi, by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Sewedo Oluseyi Whenu, who also prayed that God would grant the family the strength to endure the enormous loss.

Similar to this, the ministry’s permanent secretary, Mr. Sewedo Oluseyi Whenu, voiced his conviction that the late spiritual leader was in a better place and had positively impacted many people throughout his time on earth.

Whenu said: “Pa Johnson’s contributions to the spiritual growth of Christian faithful, who had in the course of his serving God crossed his path, and the entrenchment of peace and religious harmony in the State, among other achievements, were indeed profound”.

The Executive Secretary of LSCPWB, Mrs. Florence Yetunde Gbafe, also lauded the exemplary life of Pa Johnson as evident in the life of the Chairman, stressing that the deceased lived a disciplined and impactful life.

Responding on behalf of the family, the Board Chairman, Revd. Akinpelu Johnson, thanked the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Prince Anofiu Elegushi, and other representatives of the State Government for the visit, stating that it would go a long way in strengthening the family at this crucial time.

Rev. Johnson gave glory to God for enabling his late father fulfill his last wish of visiting St. Paul Cathedral, London where he was ordained in 1955.

He thanked Board members for the fellowship extended, saying he did not take the gesture for granted.

Burial ceremonies have been fixed for the 10th  and 11th of August 2022.
