LASG To Conduct Integrity Tests On Suspected Buildings

The Lagos State Government has disclosed that integrity tests on buildings suspected to be structurally defective will soon commence to safeguard the lives and properties of occupants residing within such premises.
The Acting GM Lagos State Materials Testing Laboratory (LSMTL), Engr. Olalekan Ajani said this while warning developers to desist from the unethical practice of using inferior quality materials in the construction of buildings.
Ajani further revealed at the site of a distressed 2- storey building @ Ikate-Surulere that LSMTL would identify all distressed buildings, and conduct tests on the structures to ascertain the structural integrity of the houses.
He advised occupants of such buildings to vacate their premises due to the effect of the persistent rainfall on its structural members and implored developers to insist on quality and standard materials for housing construction.
