LASG Unveils Strategies Towards Achieving SDGs
The Lagos State Government has unveiled its strategies towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals as part of its programmes to mark the World Global Week.
Speaking on the 2019 Global Week for SDGs, which commenced on Monday, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Sustainable Development Goals and Investment, Mrs. Solape Hammond, stated that the evolving plan is designed to accommodate every stratum of the society towards achieving the Global Sustainable Development Agenda.
“Creating awareness and conversation around government’s programmes towards achieving the Global goals is fundamental to the realisation of the THEMES Agenda of the present administration”, she said.

Hammond disclosed that the 17 SDGs will be strategically linked to the State’s MDAs in accordance with their statutory responsibilities such that multimedia contents will be created around their policies, activities and initiatives to foster evaluation of strategic steps required to ensure these goals are realised.
Explaining further, Hammond revealed that her office will create informative content such as short images and videos around the SDGs and the State Government for dissemination on the mainstream and social media.
She affirmed that the media will be a partner in the promotion of these goals through interviews, documentaries, vox-pop and promotional means, stating that each broadcast outfit will be encouraged to identify with a goal while setting its own agenda and propagating same to support the government.
The Special Adviser also noted that User Generated Content (UGC) campaigns to elicit the support of Lagosians for government’s goals will be initiated to create conversations, stating that Heads of Corporate Institutions, Professional Bodies, Non- Organisations, Religious Bodies among other stakeholders across the State will also be accommodated into the mission through the hashtags – #SupportSDG; #SupportLagos.

Hammond restated that the 2030 Global Sustainable Development Agenda is the plan of action for people, planet and prosperity, stressing that the programme aims to transform our world and to improve people’s lives and prosperity on a healthy planet.
“SDGs apply to all countries through partnerships and peace. Countries, regions, cities, the business sector and civil society are actively engaged in implementing the Global Agenda for a sustainable future”, she stated.
