She expressed confidence that all the gift items distributed and prizes won by enrollees would go a long way in reducing the plight and challenges faced by the winners of various prizes at the event.
Mrs. Gbadebo called on all Lagos residents, who are yet to enrol on ILERA EKO to do so immediately, adding that the Health insurance is not a sham, just as she promised to spread the good news of ILERA EKO to the people, especially now that she has confirmed its authenticity.
In his address at the event, LASHMA’s Board member, Dr. Tunji Akintade, said the event demonstrated the fact that Lagos State is on the right path to achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC), promising that the Agency would not rest on his oars in ensuring that every resident of the State enrols on the Health Scheme.
Dr. Akintade, however, appealed to all the Local Government Chairmen in the Division to take cognisance of the health of their people and enrol residents, especially the vulnerable, who could not afford to pay the N8,500 for the health plan.
In her remarks, the General Manager, LASHMA, Dr. Emmanuella Zamba, while distributing free ILERA EKO Health plans to some identified vulnerable persons in the division, advised residents on the scheme to always visit the Hospital when sick instead of indulging in self-medication, which is dangerous to their health.
She assured the residents that equal medical treatment would be given to all subscribers of the health plan including the vulnerable, who could not afford the premium payment, but were gifted at their chosen health facilities.
The Executive Chairman, Ikorodu LGA, Mr. Wasiu Adesina, represented by the Secretary to the Local Government, Mr. Lateef Afinni, commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for his commitment to ensuring that residents have access to affordable and quality healthcare.
He said that ILERA EKO has been widely accepted by the residents in the division and that the local government would not relent in its efforts to ensure that those who are yet to enrol on the scheme come on board.
Similarly, the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu-West Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mr. Olanrewaju Sulaimon, said that ILERA EKO Health insurance is a good programme launched by the government to ensure easy, better and cheaper ways for residents to get access to affordable healthcare.
He implored residents to support the government on ILERA EKO as the scheme would play a great role in ensuring better healthcare for residents, just like health insurance does in developed countries.
In his special remarks, HRM, the Ayangburen of Ikorodu Kingdom, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, said that ILERA EKO will reduce loss of lives in the State, especially maternal and child deaths, adding that the act of begging and selling property to pay huge medical bills would be a thing of the past.
HRM, represented by the Baale, Araromi First Gate, Chief Atobajaye Tajudeen, also implored everyone in the kingdom to enrol on the scheme in order to live a healthy life.
