Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA) hosted over 150 children with special needs, their caregivers, and owners of homes at the Dr. Oluyomi Abayomi Finnih Recreational Park in Oregun, Ikeja.
The event was a celebration of the uniqueness of these children and a call to action for their continued growth and inclusion.
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Tertiary Education, Mr. Adeniran Kasali, expressed gratitude to caregivers and parents for not isolating their children with special needs.
He emphasized the importance of community support and understanding in fostering an inclusive environment.
The General Manager of LASODA, Mrs. Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, highlighted the state government’s efforts in promoting the rights and well-being of people living with disabilities.

She encouraged parents to accept and support their children’s unique needs, and emphasized the importance of inclusivity and social welfare.
Resource persons made presentations on various topics, including therapy, psychology, education, and self-care for parents of children with special needs.
The celebration featured activities, entertainment, and interactive sessions designed to engage and uplift the children.
Parents and caregivers praised the Lagos State Government for their support, describing the event as a step in the right direction towards improving the quality of life for special needs children.
