Eko Hot Blog reports that the Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority (LASPPPA) has issued a strong condemnation against certain property owners and developers in Lagos State who consistently disregard notices served on their properties, instructing them to halt construction or provide required Planning Permits.
Tpl. Kehinde Osinaike, the General Manager of LASPPPA, expressed particular concern about two estates along Orange Island Road, off Freedom Way, Lekki, known as the Brains and Hammers Property, where multiple blocks are under construction.
“Despite repeated visits to the site and the issuance of contravention notices, these entities have consistently failed to comply with the regulations set by LASPPPA,” said Osinaike.
He highlighted a concerning incident during a visit in December 2023 when property occupants, including aggressive measures such as setting dogs on the Monitoring and Compliance Units of LASPPPA, hindered officials from entering the site.
“During an enforcement exercise on January 31st of this year, LASPPPA, in collaboration with Eti-Osa North District Officers, had to resort to dismantling parts of the structures after being obstructed by dogs,” added the General Manager.
He expressed disappointment in the developers’ resistance to government officials and warned that failure to present the Planning Permit would lead to document revocation and the demolition of structures.
“In light of this, I urge all developers, owners, and buyers to refrain from obstructing LASPPPA officials, comply with Town Planning Laws, and promptly address any notices issued by the Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority,” Osinaike emphasized.
The Authority is resolute in ensuring orderly and planned urban development in Lagos State, maintaining the importance of adherence to regulations.
The official statement by Tpl. Kehinde Osinaike serves as a stern warning to property developers and owners who flout planning regulations, emphasizing the commitment of LASPPPA to uphold and enforce compliance with town planning laws in the state.
