Welcoming participants to the event held at Alausa, Ikeja, the Lagos State Chief Resilience Officer (CRO), Dr. Folayinka Dania said it has become a standard tradition in which Lagos Resilience Strategy initiatives is reviewed periodically since 2020, when it was publicly released.

According to her, the regular review has assisted the State in further appraising its resilience agenda in an effort to make the State survive and excel in the face of any challenge it might face.

She reiterated the need to continue to strengthen the State’s resilience through effective management of its stresses, shocks and other encounters in the best possible ways and take full advantage of its possibilities for progress and development by the Lagos State Government.

Dania urged them to participate actively in the evaluation of the State’s resilience strategy implementation.

She noted that the forum was designed as an avenue by the State Government to bring stakeholders together for a joint review of the State’s resilience strategy and implementation so as to ascertain the level of progress.

While stressing the importance of effective participation in the attainment of the set goals and objectives, the CRO stated that participants’ contributions and commitment would help the State to come up with a more robust and realistic assessment capable of fast-tracking progress in the implementation of the resilience initiatives.

In her words, “We are here today to review how well we have performed over the last three years in line with our objectives and goals; discuss the outcomes and impacts of the projects and programs that have been implemented; outline challenges to the implementation of planned projects and programs; and identify strategies to mitigate these challenges”.

“I, therefore, enjoin you to fully participate and ensure we come up with a useful assessment of the State’s efforts and how we can work together to improve Lagos’ resilience,” Dania stated.

She noted also that the periodic resilience strategy assessment would help stakeholders to share views, experiences and ideas and proffer solutions that would help to strengthen the capacity of the State to prepare for and mitigate the effect of possible acute shocks and become more responsive to addressing everyday challenges that the State might confront.

One of the outcomes of the workshop was the agreement by participants on the need for the State Government to further strengthen and equip the Lagos State Resilience Office to enable the agency to do more in monitoring efficient implementation of government resilient initiatives toward achieving a more resilient State.
