LASU School Of Communication Pioneer Set Mourns Prof. Lai Oso’s Demise

Prof. Oso passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2023.

His former students from 2006 have joined thousands of others in mourning the academic.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the pioneer set of Lagos State University (LASU) School of Communication, (LASUCOC 2006) has mourned Professor Muraino Olayiwola Oso, popularly known as Lai Oso.
He died in a fatal accident while returning to Lagos from a conference in Abraka, Delta State, on June 24, 2023.

In a statement issued by the LASUCOC 2006 President, Kayode Jackson, over the weekend, the communication school alumni described the don’s demise as a great loss.
The Jackson-led pioneer set also described Oso as a rare breed, an astute communication scholar, teacher, and a mentor, who positively impacted many communication professionals in the last three decades.
“The 2006 alumni set condoles with his immediate family, particularly his wife and children, friends, the Vice Chancellor, LASU, the Dean, academic and non academic members of the Faculty of Communication and Media studies, former and current students and the entire LASU Community on this great loss which has been described as a whole library drowned in water,” the statement reads in part.
While praying that Oso’s soul rest in peace, the LASUCOC 2006 set noted that their late teacher will be fondly remembered for his fatherly disposition and his liberal approach to knowledge in communication studies and in his relationship with colleagues and students.
