Community Leaders Association of Epe Division (COLED), has called on Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu to appoint Prof. Olumuyiwa Odusanya, as the next Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU).
COLED made the call through a press statement titled, “APPOINTMENT OF LASU 9TH SUBSTANTIVE VICE CHANCELLOR; THE COLED STANCE” where it stated the credibility of Odusanya.
While bringing to remembrance that the tenure of the incumbent VC, Prof. Olanrewaju Adigun Fagbohun, will expire by Monday, 11th January, the association stated that results of screening conducted for 5 candidates by a 7-man council gave a result that Odusanya came first.
The association further said that the appointment of the Ilara indigene, a community in Eredo Local Council Development Area, will uphold and progress the leading standard of the institute.

The Statement reads in part, “The Lagos State University has always stood for excellence and that explains why it has won several laurels since its inception, including being ranked the 2nd best university in the 2020 Times Higher Education (THE) World University rankings.
“The issue of LASU VC appointment should not be allowed to cause a rift among the five Divisions of Lagos State (IBILE). Hence, as a state given to excellence and integrity, the Lagos State Government will do well to appoint only the candidate with the best performance in the selection interview, who also, according to public opinion, is most suitable for the job.
“Prof Olumuyiwa Odusanya is not only the most qualified in the eyes of the academics and Senate of the school but also has proven with his wealth of experience in administrative spheres that given the mandate, he will move the citadel of learning to the dream place of the founding fathers of the university.
“Therefore, we, members of the Community Leaders Association of Epe Division, COLED, made up of the six administrative districts of Epe Division, hereby appeal to the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu to let justice, equity and fairness prevail in the appointment of the new Vice Chancellor of the Lagos State University (LASU) by appointing Prof. Olumuyiwa Odusanya; the confirmed most qualified candidate from the Senate and Governing Council’s report, as the new Vice Chancellor of the Lagos State University in order to take our great LASU to the place of our expectation.”
