The Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB) has joined hands with the Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC) to discover young talents, promote sports, and give all pupils equal chances to shine.

Dr. Hakeem Babatunde Shittu, Executive Chairman of LASUBEB, praised the Sports Commission for supporting young talents. He said the partnership matches the state’s goal of giving every child a full and fair education.

“Every child deserves the same chance to succeed,” Dr. Shittu said. “Sports is a big part of learning and growing.

We want the Sports Commission to help train our school coaches and teachers in modern ways so they can better guide our pupils. When we train our teachers well, we help our children do their best.”

Dr. Shittu also shared that LASUBEB has started some sports programs in schools but wants the Sports Commission to do more so that pupils can develop their skills better.

Mr. Lekan Fatodu, Director General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, said the partnership is not just for show but a real plan to support young talents.

“This is a smart move to help our children grow in sports,” Fatodu said. “We want to make sure that no child with talent is left behind. If a child loves sports, we will help them get better and go far.”

Mr. Hakeem Lamidi, LASUBEB’s Board Secretary, also shared his excitement about the partnership. He said it would help build pupils’ confidence and help them do well in and out of school.

“This teamwork will help our children believe in themselves and get noticed. It’s a step forward for their total growth,” he said.

With this partnership, Lagos State is taking another strong step to raise future champions—starting from the classroom and giving every child the chance to succeed in sports.
