“The Lagos State Government remains unwavering in its commitment to the welfare of retired personnel in the basic education sector,” he said.

“Our retirees deserve not only our respect but a system that ensures their entitlements are processed with accuracy, timeliness, and compassion.”

Representing Dr. Shittu at the event, Board Member Mr. Owolabi Jamiu Falana emphasized that the retreat was part of a broader reform initiative aimed at modernizing pension administration across Lagos State.

“This is more than just a training,” Falana explained. “It is part of our strategic agenda to improve operational standards and promote a seamless transition for retirees.

LASUBEB will continue to champion initiatives that align with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s vision of a responsive and people-centered governance.”

Throughout the retreat, participants engaged in hands-on sessions led by renowned experts in pension management.

Mrs. Bisi Ojora, a veteran in public pension administration, facilitated a session focused on documentation procedures, gratuity processing, and the importance of record integrity.

“Transparency and meticulous documentation are the bedrock of any credible pension system,” Ojora told participants. “Always act in the best interests of the retirees, our actions directly affect their future.”

Another facilitator, Mr. Olufemi Damilola, took participants through the financial aspects of pension administration, including fund computation and regulatory compliance.

“When it comes to pensions, accuracy is non-negotiable,” Damilola stressed. “Retirees must receive their entitlements in full and without unnecessary delay.”

Participants praised the retreat’s depth and relevance, describing it as an eye-opener that helped clarify grey areas in pension processes.

The program also fostered peer learning, enabling officers from various LGEAs to exchange experiences and adopt unified best practices.

“This retreat has broadened my understanding of pension documentation and given me the tools to serve our retirees better,” said Mrs. Adeola Akinpelu, a desk officer from Lagos Mainland LGEA. “It was worth every minute.”
