Ekohotblog reports that the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB) hosted a strategic meeting today with school managers from across the state to prepare for the upcoming academic session.
Held at the NUT Pavilion in Agidingbi, Ikeja, the meeting focused on aligning school leaders with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s vision for education reform and promoting a more efficient and effective education system.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Hakeem Shittu, Executive Chairman of LASUBEB, emphasized the need to strengthen school administration and maintain high standards in public education.
He highlighted that a robust educational system is crucial for the development of Lagos State, and it starts with competent leadership at the school level.
“Quality teaching and learning are fundamental to our mission, and we are committed to ensuring every pupil has access to these in all our public schools,” he said.
Dr. Shittu also addressed the critical role of teachers, noting that their welfare is central to the Board’s agenda.
He pointed out that a motivated and well-supported workforce is essential for achieving the state’s education goals.
“We recognize the importance of teachers in shaping the future of our children.
Their welfare is our priority, and we will continue to provide support and resources to enhance their effectiveness,” he added.
In addition, the Chairman highlighted LASUBEB’s efforts to drive digital literacy among pupils.
As technology becomes an increasingly important part of modern education, Dr. Shittu stressed that the Board is working on programs to integrate digital tools into the learning process.

Another key focus of the meeting was ensuring equitable access to free education for all children in Lagos.
Dr. Shittu urged school managers to be proactive in addressing challenges such as pupil enrollment, absenteeism, and retention.
He stressed that every child in Lagos has the right to education, and it is the responsibility of school administrators to ensure that no child is left behind.
The meeting concluded with a call to action for school leaders to take ownership of the state’s education policies and work collaboratively towards achieving the shared vision of an inclusive and high-quality education system for all pupils in Lagos.
LASUBEB reaffirmed its commitment to supporting school administrators in implementing these policies effectively in the new academic session.
