EKO HOT BLOG reports that Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) has debunked reports that its facility was intruded by an impersonator on Wednesday.

This online media platform recalls that a video of a man in nursing attire went viral on social media with allegations that he infiltrated the maternity section of the hospital in an attempt to steal a baby.

Reacting to the reports, the management of LASUTH Thursday morning clarified that the incident occurred at Randle General Hospital, Surulere and not Ikeja.

In a statement, LASUTH said: “The attention of the Management of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) has been drawn to a Facebook post by one Sefinatu Umaru. The post claims that the video of a man impersonating a nurse with the plan to kidnap a child, is captured as an event that occurred in Ayinke House, LASUTH.

“We wish to affirm that the event in the video did not happen in Ayinke House in LASUTH but in Randle General Hospital, Surulere. The Medical Director of the hospital has already given a statement to that effect.

“We implore social media users to make effort in ascertaining the origin of their stories before publishing. Unverified stories like this have the capacity to create unnecessary fear and panic in the populace.

“The above clarification is therefore, made to invalidate the misleading information credited to LASUTH by Safinatu Umaru.”

However, the Police said the man in question, Fadeyi, was mentally unwell and a patient at the Psychiatric Hospital Yaba.
