EKO HOT BLOG reports that the remains of late politician and socialite, Chief Mrs Kemi Nelson, was today, Thursday, August 25, committed to mother earth in Lagos.
This online media platform recalls that Nelson died on Sunday, July 17, at the age of 66.
An evening of songs and tributes was held in her honour at the Haven, GRA Ikeja, Lagos, on Tuesday, August 23.
Similarly, a Christian wake took place on August 24, at the same venue before she is finally laid to rest on the 25th.
Her farewell service was at Archbishop Vinning Memorial Church, Ikeja GRA, while reception took place at Harbour Point.
Prominent individuals who showed up for her outing service were Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu; the former first lady of Lagos State, Oluremi Tinubu; National Secretary of All Progressives Congress party, Iyiola Omisore; socialite, Joke Sogunro; former Lagos Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu; etc.
Nelson was once the Commissioner for Establishment, Training and Job Creation, Women Affairs, and Poverty Alleviation.
The late politician who was the Yeyesewa of Lagos was the only female member of the Governing Advisory Council of Lagos APC.
The socialite whose death sent shock waves across Lagos political and social establishment had been unwell for a while, treating undisclosed ailments at different hospitals.
Close friends and relations revealed that she was treating the deadly cancer disease. At some point, she seemed to get better and even held a special thanksgiving service on May 8, to thank God for seeing her through the battle.
But death was lurking, as two months after, she was struck by a strange attack which she never recovered from.
She had also served as the women leader of the Lagos State chapter of APC and was later made the southwest women leader of APC.
She is well known in the social circle for her low-cut hairstyle, her unique headgear and her dancing prowess.
Kemi Nelson was married to Mr Adeyemi Nelson and they are both blessed with wonderful children.
