Late Edo Former Speaker’s Wife, Son Kidnapped In Kogi While Taking Corpse For Burial

Hassana Garuba, the wife and the son of the late former Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, ZakaWanu Garuba, have been reported kidnapped in Kogi.

It was gathered that they were travelling from Abuja to Auchi, Edo State with the remains of her late husband, Zakawanu Garuba when they ran into the kidnappers along Lokoja/Abuja Road.

It was gathered the late former speaker’s wife, mother, and driver were on their way to the hometown of the deceased when the incident occurred.

Meanwhile, their abductors were said to left the mother of the deceased at the scene while his wife and son were taken away.

A family member confirmed the development but said they were yet to be contacted, while Garuba’s body was yet to arrive Auchi.

He, however, said arrangement was being made to bring the children and their grandmother home.

Confirming this incident also, the state Police Commissioner, Ayuba Ede, explained over the telephone that he had dispatched his men to the scene and awaiting them for details.

He said he got information about a kidnap incident around Okene, but could not confirm the exact situation.

“Yes, I heard of a kidnap incident around Okene and, I have sent my policemen to the area to ascertain the correct position of things. I do not know what exactly happened, so I cannot confirm what I don’t know. My men have gone there already,” said the CP.
