Late General Sani Abacha’s Son, Abdullahi Abacha Dies At 36

 

  • Nigeria’s former Head of State, the late General Sani Abachi’s son passes on at the age of 36.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Abdullahi Abacha, one of the sons of former Nigerian military ruler General Sani Abacha, has passed away at the age of 36. His sister, Fatimah Gumsu Abacha-Buni, announced the sad news on Saturday via her Instagram account.

Abdullahi reportedly died in his sleep at the family’s residence on Nelson Mandela Street in Abuja on Saturday.

In her post, Fatimah Gumsu Abacha-Buni wrote, “Innalillahi wa inna ilahi rajiun (Surely, we belong to Allah and verily to Him do we return). I lost my younger brother Abdullahi Sani Abacha. He died in his sleep. May Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him jannatul firdaos (paradise), Ameen. Please include him in your prayers.”

A source who spoke to Daily Nigerian stated that Abdullahi was reportedly “hale and hearty” the night before, but was found dead on Saturday morning. The cause of his sudden death has not been revealed.

Abdullahi Abacha was the youngest son of Sani Abacha, who ruled Nigeria from 1993 until his death in 1998.

Following his father’s death, Abdullahi and his family were accused of embezzling billions of dollars from Nigeria’s government during his father’s regime. However, no charges were ever brought against Abdullahi.
