  • He emphasizes that personal and environmental cleanliness are integral teachings of Islam
  • LAWMA enforcement personnel have been mobilized to apprehend defaulters of indiscriminate waste disposal

Eko Hot Blog reports that in a release issued on Monday, the Managing Director/CEO of the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, has urged Lagos residents to embrace and maintain a clean environment as a permanent habit that extends beyond occasions and festivities.

Editor’s Pick:

Congratulating the Muslim faithful on the completion of the Ramadan Fast and the celebration of Eid-el-Fitri, Gbadegesin emphasized the importance of personal hygiene and environmental cleanliness as integral teachings of Islam that should become permanent features of daily living.

“Islam teaches cleanliness at the personal level, at home and the environment. Islam abhors filth and dirtiness anywhere around us. I appeal that we make this great teaching a permanent feature of our daily lives and living. Whatever we put into the environment is what it will give back. Therefore, let us maintain good hygiene at the domestic front as well as the larger environment for our good,” he stated.

While wishing Muslims a happy celebration, the LAWMA Boss implored residents to shun reckless waste disposal at unauthorized locations such as street corners, road medians, sidewalks, and black spots. He warned that LAWMA enforcement personnel had been mobilized to apprehend defaulters for immediate prosecution.
