EKO HOT BLOG reports that Obasa, who was removed while he was away in the United States, filed the suit to challenge the decision of his colleagues, who elected Hon. Mojisola Meranda as the new Speaker in his absence.
Despite the change in leadership, Obasa returned to the Assembly on Thursday, insisting that he remained the Speaker. His claim has further deepened the leadership crisis within the Lagos legislature.
The case is being heard by Justice Y.R. Pinheiro at the Ikeja High Court. The outcome of the hearing is expected to determine the legitimacy of Obasa’s removal and whether he can reclaim his position.
