Lawyer Reveals Why Sunday Igboho Was Angry With His Legal Team
- Sunday Igboho’s lawyer has revealed why the popular Yoruba Nation agitator was angry with his legal team.
EKOHOTBLOG reports that Ibrahim Salami, one of the Benin Republic-based lawyers of the embattled Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has condemned the leaked audio where the activist slammed his legal team.
Sunday Igboho had in the leaked audio alleged that he was abandoned by lawyers who collected a huge amount of money from him in the Benin Republic.
However, Salami, while reacting to the allegation, said the Yoruba rights activist was angry with him and other members of the legal team because he felt he had no reason to remain in detention.
He added that the Yoruba secessionist leader found it strange to remain in police custody for “not committing any crime”, adding that Igboho “wants things to be done faster”.
The Benin Republic-based lawyer further stated that the leaked audio is dangerous for the justice being pursued on behalf of Sunday Igboho.
EKOHOTBLOG recalls that Sunday Igboho, who gained prominence following an ultimatum he issued to criminal herdsmen in the South-West, was arrested alongside his wife on Monday, July 19, 2021, by the International Criminal Police Organisation (INTERPOL) at the Cadjèhoun Airport in Cotonou, the Benin Republic while attempting to flee to Germany.

Sunday Igboho’s wife, Ropo, was released after the court found out that she had not committed any offence.
On his part, the embattled Yoruba Nation agitator was returned to the custody of Brigade Criminelle in Cotonou, Benin Republic.
This came after the Beninese court ordered that Sunday Igboho be remanded in a prison facility in the Francophone West African nation while further investigations were carried out on the case against the agitator.
The Yoruba rights activist, who is now seeking asylum in the Benin Republic, is facing allegations bordering on trafficking in arms, inciting violence, and causing disunity in Nigeria.
