There was excitement in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Tuesday, as two ladies among the July 11 returnees from Lebanon named their babies after Governor Seyi Makinde.

The Senior Special Adviser to the governor on Diaspora Matters, Mrs Bolanle Sarumi-Aliyu, who was present at the naming ceremony, said the impacts of Governor Makinde’s administration was evident and would linger for long.

She said, “It is a joyous occasion today; the naming ceremony of the two boys born by our July 11 returnees and both parents named the boys Oluseyi Fahrihan and Oluwaseyi Khalid.

“Both mothers and the Diaspora Office is thanking the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde; the Chairman, Nigerian Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri; Lebanese Ambassador to Nigeria, Houssam dien, the Chief Executive Officer, Silver Wings Travel Agency, Mr Mamoud Said; the Nigerian Mission in Lebanon; and NAPTIP for facilitating the successful repatriation of these mothers on the 11th of July.”

She, however, noted that it was saddening to see the unpleasant conditions in which most Nigerians live abroad in their quest for a better life.

She assured that the present government, under the leadership of Governor Makinde, would through the Diaspora Office, ensure safe repatriation of Oyo State indigenes from foreign countries.
