Engr. Rasaki Bamidele Kasali (MNSE, MNATE), Executive Chairman of Lekki LCDA, emphasized the importance of the MNCAN Week in his address.

“This week-long initiative is crucial for raising awareness and providing essential health services to mothers, newborns, children, and adolescents,” he said.

“Our goal is to reduce maternal and child mortality rates and improve overall health outcomes in our community.”

Highlights of the MNCAN Week:

1. Health Education and Awareness Campaigns:
– A series of educational sessions were held throughout the LCDA, focusing on prenatal care, safe delivery practices, and proper nutrition.

“We wanted to make sure that mothers and caregivers are well-informed about the signs of common childhood illnesses and the importance of early intervention,” said Engr. Kasali.

2.  Nutritional Support and Intervention:

– Nutritional supplements, including vitamins and fortified foods, were distributed to pregnant women, nursing mothers, and young children.

The initiative also featured cooking demonstrations and nutrition education.

“Providing these supplements and teaching families how to prepare balanced meals is vital for combating malnutrition,” Kasali noted.

3. Immunization and Health Screening:
– Immunization drives were a key component, ensuring children received essential vaccines.

Health screenings for mothers and children were also conducted.

“These screenings are essential for detecting conditions like malnutrition and anemia early on,” Kasali explained.

“We must address the unique health challenges faced by adolescents and encourage healthy lifestyles,” Kasali added.

5. Collaboration with Health Partners:
– The success of the week was enhanced by partnerships with local health organizations, NGOs, and private sector partners.

“The support from our partners was invaluable in reaching a broader audience and maximizing the impact of this initiative,” said Kasali.

Engr. Kasali concluded by expressing his gratitude to all participants and partners.

“I want to thank everyone who contributed to the success of MNCAN Plus Nutrition Week.

Our commitment to improving maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health will continue beyond this week,” he affirmed.

The MNCAN Plus Nutrition Week is expected to make a lasting impact, laying the groundwork for improved health outcomes and a healthier future for mothers, children, and adolescents in Lekki LCDA.
