Lekki Massacre: Adeboye Condemns Attack, Begs Youths To Avoid Confrontation With Military
October 21, 2020.
- The Leader and General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Enoch Adeboye has condemned the Tuesday night attack and killing of #ENDSARS protesters in Lekki.
While condemning the attack in a statement on Wednesday, Adeboye who pleaded with the youths to avoid confrontations with men of the Nigerian Army also called on President Muhammadu Buhari to thoroughly investigate the tragic event.
Enoch Adeboye, who further held that the actions of the military could make the current situation unmanageable wrote:
“I condemn in the strongest possible terms, attacks launched by the Nigerian military on unarmed young people, who have been peacefully protesting police brutality over the last 12 days as #EndSARS protests.

“The condemnable actions of the military risks driving the agitations of the young people underground, thereby making the situation unmanageable.
“I call on the Federal Government to thoroughly investigate the tragic events at Lekki and other parts of the country, give justice to all victims even as it engages the #EndSARS protesters to reach a common agreement to end police brutality.
“I am also appealing to the Youths to allow peace reign & stop any form of action that would give the Military any other form of excuse to attack.”
It will be recalled that there has been outrage in Nigeria after men believed to be officers of the Nigerian Army opened fire and killed unarmed #ENDSARS protesters at the Lekki tollgate.
Following the incident, prominent personalities both in Nigerian and across the globe condemned the attack and asked the president to bring the perpetrators of the attack to book.
