Mr. Reno Omokri says he has hired the services of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Mike Ozekhome to work towards the release of popular comedian, Debo Macaroni.
Mr. Macaroni was arrested at Lekki Tollgate alongside over 40 Nigerians for taking part in a peaceful protest.
The protesters are demanding a reverse in the plan by the Lagos State government to open the Lekki Tollgate.
But they were arrested and taken to Panti police station. However, EKO HOT BLOG gathered that they have been arraigned in a mobile court in Yaba for protesting.
Omokri in an Instagram post said that Mike Ozekhome who represented Atiku Abubakar in 2019 is on his way to the Panti Police Station to represent Macaroni.
“I have just engaged the services of Chief Mike Ozekhome SAN to act for @mrmacaronii pro bono,” Omokri said.
“They are on their way to Panti Police Station. If anyone is in contact with Debo, let him know that Mike Ozekhome is representing him in this matter.”
Earlier on, Omokri who has authored several books said he will take up the legal bills of all those arrested today, February 13 at the Lekki Toll Gate.
“I am providing free legal services to patriots who were arrested for protesting peacefully at the #OccupyLekkiTollGate protest,” Omokri had tweeted earlier.
He pleaded, “I also call on all Nigerians who have the means to assist them, to do so. We owe a DUTY to those who protest on the behalf of all Nigerians. They are the last line of defence between Nigeria and full-blown dictatorship!”
