‘Let’s Do This Together,’ Kamala Harris, Tim Walz Put Out Campaign Videos

Following her choice of running mate, Vice President Kamala Harris has, through a campaign video, revealed her choice for running mate on Wednesday.

From what seems to be their first official campaign video as teammates, Harris, through calls, reached out to Minnesota Governor Tim Walz to offer him the position.

“Listen, I want you to do this with me. Let’s do this together,” Harris says in the video.

“Would you be my running mate and let’s get this thing on the road?”

Walz responded with enthusiasm, “I would be honoured, Madam Vice-President. The joy that you are bringing back to the country, the enthusiasm that’s out there, it will be a privilege to take this across the country.”

This announcement video echoes a similar moment from 2020 when President Joe Biden extended his invitation to Harris, marking a notable tradition in campaign announcements.

Recall that Harris took to social media to share her excitement about Walz’sz consent to be her running mate.

“When I called @Tim_Walz this morning to ask him to join our campaign, I shared my deep level of respect for him and the work we’ve done together. We’re going to unify this country and we’re going to win. Let’s go get this done…,” she wrote on platform X.

Since the announcement, the Harris campaign has reported a substantial fundraising boost, securing $10 million.

In response, Walz released his introductory video, emphasizing shared values: “Growing up, I learned to be generous toward my neighbours, compromise without compromising my values, and to work for the common good. @KamalaHarris and I both believe in that common good – in that fundamental promise of America. We’re ready to fight for it. And like she says: when we fight, we win,” Walz posted on X.

Harris and Walz later their first joint appearance later on Wednesday at a rally in Philadelphia, marking the beginning of their campaign tour through crucial swing states.
