During a visit to Gbajir in Ukum local government area, where militia groups reportedly killed 45 residents, Governor Alia expressed his dismay at the level of violence. He emphasized the need for unity in addressing the situation, commending the prompt response of security agencies, let’s stop.
Alia called out politicians who may be inciting violence or sponsoring militia gangs, urging them to prioritize peace. He highlighted the importance of traditional leaders and politicians working together to quell violence and restore peace to the region.
Referring to recent incidents involving herders and militia groups, the governor stressed the need for dialogue and cooperation to prevent further bloodshed. He also called upon neighborhood watch groups to remain vigilant and cautioned against fanning the flames of violence.
In a direct challenge to Senator Memga Udende, Alia demanded transparency and cooperation in addressing the root causes of the crisis. “We want him to expose anyone suspected to be sponsoring violence,” he declared.
