- EKOHOTBLOG, 16TH NOVEMBER, 2020
- Formula one car racing superstar, Lewis Hamilton equals Michael Schumacher’s record of seven titles after battling from sixth to lead in Istanbul
Victory on the day, victory over the season, victory for the ages. And this great Briton let out a teary, high-pitched cackle of joy.

Only Michael Schumacher has been Formula One world champion as often as Lewis Carl Davidson Hamilton. And not even the great German can match his heir’s riches of race victories: 94 of them, after this blitzing of a tricky, wet Turkish Grand Prix by a monster 31 seconds.
When Schumacher claimed his own title No 7 in Belgium 16 years ago, it seemed the haul might stand unmatched for an eternity. But now Hamilton has turned the impossible destination into a mere staging post. He turns 36 in January, and will soon be targeting his eighth wonder of the world.
Starting only sixth on the grid here, he let the race yield to him, ending it with a victory so complete it stands comparison with any of his best.
‘Very rarely do I lose control of my emotions but those last few laps I was telling myself to keep it together,’ he admitted. ‘I could feel it getting closer, knowing that if I finished where I was then I would win this championship.
