Member representing Epe Constituency 1 at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon Mustain Abiodun Tobun, has intensified efforts towards canvassing support towards the forthcoming Local Government Elections via an empowerment scheme engineered under the aegis Tobun 4Real Team, a political support group representing the interest of the Lagos State Lawmaker.
Chairman of the group, Prince Wale Idowu, while addressing the members of the party at Ward A4, Isale-Agoro, Epe, reiterated the need for them to obtain their voter’s cards and party membership ahead of the July 24 polls.
Idowu stated that the Tobun for Real Team was established to further strengthen the Lawmaker’s representation of the constituency and also serve as a conduit between him and his constituents.
“Our job is to identify the problems and sufferings of our people in their various households with a bid to alleviating them. We strive to build stronger governance. Hon Tobun feels sad the dividends of democratic governance doesn’t go round,” he stated.
Hon Bola Iberu, another principal official of the support group, commended the foresight and thoughtfulness of Mrs Ottun, the women leader of the group, in empowering petty traders, the aged and widows with cash and perishable goods to support their businesses. He berated dishonesty from political followers which he said was reprehensible and distasteful.
He noted that converting the money gifted to her group by top party leaders like Barrister Omodele Ibrahim, Barrister Tunde Seriki, Hon Olanrewaju Amod, Alhaji Tunde Ijaodola and others into such a productive venture was a class act in a political atmosphere dominated by dishonest and greedy followers.
While appealing to the group to accept the outcome of the party primaries, Hon Iberu reminded the gathering of the few laudable projects established in the ward by the Lawmaker which include a borehole drilled at Oluwo market and a soon to be commissioned ICT centre equipped with 50 computers at Odo-Obara high school.
Hon Iberu also announced that a student who had 289 in the recently concluded JAMB examination would get an academic scholarship from Hon Tobun. According to him, a program to keep primary school pupils busy after school is already in the offing.
Mrs Olamiji Otun, in her response, stated that it was necessary for her and some of the members to support a few households in view of the economic adversity occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mrs Otun further noted that 10 traders, 20 widows, 10 aged women across the ethnic divides in Wards A4 benefitted from the empowerment.
The beneficiaries, who could not contain their excitement, thanked the sponsors of the initiative and pledged to use the relief materials as industriously as possible.
At the gathering were the Ward coordinator Mr Adebayo Babatunde, Alhaji Azeez Selim (Santo), Hon Otun Olatayo and others.
