By_ Babatunde Kaka
A former Secretary to Local Government, Eredo LCDA, Hon Shamsideen Adeniyi, has thrown his hat in the ring ahead of the highly anticipated EREDO LCDA Chairmanship election.
The founder of Ojo Ibikun Foundation, who flagged off his campaign at the ancient Mojoda community magneted prominent political heavyweights who turned out en masse to throw their weight behind the renowned politician whose consistent philanthropic gestures have by no means gone unnoticed.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that political associates, traditional leaders, traders, artisans and other notable figures from various wards in the LCDA such as Chief Waheed Adebayo, Eleku of Odogbawojo, Chief Adeniyi Olotu, Prince Olatunde Adenuga, Mr Olusegun Adenuga, Otunba Musa Adebamowo, Alhaja Giwa SOM, Prince Kudus Animashaun and others were in attendance.
The chairmanship aspirant, while addressing his staunch supporters, was grateful for their massive turnout. He noted that this high level of integrity and trust endeared him to the people despite bowing out of the LCDA administration as SLG over the years.
He used the medium to remind the gathering of cheerful supporters of his resolve to sincerely serve his people with the available resources, noting that frittering away the resources of the people was not part of his agenda.
Adeniyi who was particularly grateful to the women folks in politics stated that his purpose to govern is clear, while also noting that it was not in his character to gallivant from one political aspiration to the other as perpetrated by some of his co-aspirants.
“Today, I listened and I’m answering the call of my people to come out and contest the position of Chairman, Eredo LCDAand today, they’ve all come together to insist that I publicly announce my candidature which I’ve done. It’s not a manifesto day but I’ve told what I’m going to offer and it’s a covenant between me and them and Insha Allah, everything I’ve promised them will come to pass. I know come July 25, I Shamsideen Adekunle Adeniyi would be sworn in as the next Chairman of Eredo LCDA,” He said.
Speaking further, Adeniyi noted that his confidence is based on the premise that the All Progressives Congress APC) rewards loyalty, coupled with the fact that he has been consistent with the party since 2010 even in times of severe adversity.
He also expressed confidence that he would clinch the party slot based on his consistent social responsibility towards his community through the Ojo Ibukun Foundation which has touched many homes with the adoption of indigent school children program.
He further dispelled rumours flying around that the party leadership has anointed a candidate as flag bearer before the primaries. He re-emphasised that the strong democratic ideals of the party have no room for such undemocratic acts, stating that those in the habit are either mischief makers or those seeking to derail the Party with fallacies.
According to him, imposition has never been the practice of the party except in situations where consensus candidates emerge.

“I am assuring you that we are going for the primaries by May 29th and I will come out as the flag bearer of the APC because I have the biggest and the most effective political structure in Eredo and our people are solidly behind me.
He hinged his anticipated services to the good people of Eredo on social programmes for the vulnerable which includes the aged who will be paid a monthly stipend of NGN10,000, widows who will be trained and employed and school children, particularly the 6787 pupils across the 19 primary schools in the LCDA. He also harped on youth employment under his administration.
Before the vote of thanks and closing prayers said by Chief Olotu, the trio of “Agbo” traditional masquerades thrilled the gathering to acrobatic and theatrical performance accompanied by drums and cultural songs
