- The residents of Lagos State have spoken about their lack of interest in the Local Government Elections in the state on Saturday.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the residents of Jakande Estate, Oke-Afa Ward, have explained that they did not participate in the Lagos State Local Government Elections due to the non-performance of political office holders.
The residents made this known following the low turnout of electorates in the election on Saturday.
Some residents, who spoke to newsmen, said political officers have failed to fulfill previous campaign promises.
A resident, Tunde Adediji, who lamented that the roads in the area were bad and abandoned by the council, said he only came out to observe the election but not to vote.
On his part, Yusuf Amuda said Nigerians were losing interest in the electoral system because of the government’s incompetence.

He further alleged that many politicians in the area failed to deliver and usually disappear until the next election.
Scores of residents of the state were seen in different activities as businesses and shops remained closed on Saturday.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the election, which is currently across the 20 local government areas and 35 local council development areas of Lagos State, is being conducted by the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) to elect chairmen and councillors.
