Eko hot blog reports that In a heartfelt address on Orthodox Easter, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy appealed to his fellow Ukrainians to come together in prayer amidst the ongoing conflict with Russia.
Standing against the backdrop of Kyiv’s Saint Sophia Cathedral, a symbol of Ukraine’s faith and resilience, Zelenskiy called for solidarity and hope.
“With each prayer, we draw closer to one another, no longer strangers but united in spirit,” Zelenskiy expressed in a poignant video message shared on the Telegram app.
Donning a traditional embroidered Ukrainian shirt, known as vyshyvanka, paired with his signature khaki pants, the President emphasized the nation’s perseverance in the face of adversity.
Highlighting Ukraine’s 802 days of resistance against Russian aggression, Zelenskiy invoked a powerful image of divine support.
“God bears the Ukrainian flag on His shoulder,” he declared, instilling faith in the ultimate triumph of life over death.
As Orthodox Christians celebrated Easter across Ukraine and Russia, Zelenskiy’s message resonated with a nation weary from years of conflict.
Meanwhile, in Moscow, President Vladimir Putin attended an Easter service led by Patriarch Kirill, a staunch ally in the Russian leader’s campaign.
Amidst the devastation wrought by the ongoing war, Zelenskiy, himself of Jewish heritage, offered prayers for the soldiers on the frontline and the millions displaced by the conflict.
“Our spirit cannot be broken,” he affirmed, envisioning a future where Ukraine stands free.
“Ukrainians kneel only in prayer,” Zelenskiy declared, rejecting the dominance of invaders and occupiers.
With unwavering faith and unity, he urged his compatriots to persevere, trusting in the promise of life prevailing over death.
