EKO HOT BLOG reports that as the inauguration of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the President of Nigeria and Kashim Shettima as the Vice President drew significant local and international attention, there were also 28 other individuals taking their oath of office as governors across different states in Nigeria.
Among these newly sworn-in governors were ten incumbents who were reelected for another term. The remaining 18 individuals are taking on their gubernatorial roles for the first time.
The diverse group of governors represents different states and political affiliations, each tasked with the responsibility of leading their respective regions.
Nasir Idris in Kebbi, Kefas Agbu in Taraba, Bassey Otu in Cross River, Peter Mbah in Enugu, Mohammed Bago in Niger, Uba Sani in Kaduna, Ahmed Aliyu in Sokoto, and Umar Namadi in Jigawa.
Other governors sworn in include Dikko Radda in Katsina, Umo Eno in Akwa Ibom, Hyacinth Alia in Benue, Francis Nwifuru in Ebonyi, Siminialayi Fubara in Rivers, Alex Otti in Abia, Caleb Mutfwang in Plateau, Abba Kabir in Kano, Sheriff Oborevwori in Delta, and Dauda Lawal in Zamfara.
Additionally, ten incumbent governors have successfully secured a second term in office.
These governors include Seyi Makinde in Oyo, Inuwa Yahaya in Gombe, Bala Mohammed in Bauchi, Babajide Sanwo-Olu in Lagos, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri in Adamawa, Mai Mala Buni in Yobe, Babagana Zulum in Borno, Dapo Abiodun in Ogun, Abdullahi Sule in Nasarawa, and Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq in Kwara.
Out of the 28 governors, 16 were elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC) party, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has ten governors. The remaining two governors were elected under the Labour Party (LP) and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) respectively.
The inauguration of these governors marks the beginning of a new chapter in their respective states. They are expected to assume leadership roles, address the needs of their constituents, and work towards the development and progress of their regions.
As they embark on their gubernatorial journeys, these governors will face various challenges and responsibilities, with the ultimate goal of serving the people and fostering positive change in their states.
