List Of Top 11 Crucial Appointments Buhari Has Made In Year 2021

  • One of the areas where President Muhammadu Buhari is mostly criticized is his choices in political appointments.
  • As gathered by EKO HOT BLOG  , listed below  11 key appointments President Buhari has made so far in 2021
  • Also listed are the regions where the Appointees come from

Though the presidency has repeatedly denied this, many of President Buhari’s critics have consistently accused him of making skewed appointments in favour of the north where he comes from.

In the 11 listed appointments, southwest has three slots, southeast has one slot, south-south has two slots, northwest has four slots while northcentral has one slot.

(1.) Adedeji Zacch

In March, President Buhari appointed Adedeji Zacch as the Executive Secretary of the National Sugar Development Council (NSDC).

He is from Oyo state in the southwest.

(2.) Abdulrasheed Bawa

Abudulrasheed Bawa was in February appointed as the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Bawa hails from Kebbi state in the northwest.

(3.) Dr Ogbonnaya Orji 

President Buhari also in February appointed Dr Ogbonnaya Orji as the Executive Secretary, Nigerian Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI).

Orji hails from Abia state in the southeast.

(4.) Ahmed Abubakar Audi 

President Buhari also recently appointed Audi as the new commandant-general of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

Audi is from Laminga Town in Nasarawa state in the northcentral.

(5.) Haliru Nababa 

Nababa was appointed as the new Controller General of the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS). He is from Sokoto state in the northwestern part of the country.

(6.) Aghughu Adolphus Arhomhenla 

Arhomhenla was in February appointed as the Auditor-general of the federation.

He hails from Esan South-East local government area in Edo state in the South-South region.

(7.) Maj Gen Samuel Adebayo

President Buhari also in 2021 appointed Maj Gen Samuel Adebayo as Nigeria’s new Chief of Defence Intelligence (CDI) and Head of the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA).

While efforts to get Adebayo’s state of origin failed, his name gave him out as a Yoruba from the southwest.

(8.)  Major-General Leo Irabor

In January, President Buhari appointed new service chiefs. He appointed Irabor as the Chief of Defence Staff.

He hails from Aliokpu Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State in the South-South region.

(9.) Major-General I. Attahiru

Attahiru, the second of the appointed service chiefs, was appointed as the Chief of Army Staff. He is from Kaduna state in the northwest.

(10.) Rear Admiral A.Z Gambo

Gambo was appointed as the Chief of Naval Staff by the Nigerian president. He is from Nassarawa Local Government Area of Kano State in the northwest.

(11.) Air-Vice Marshal I.O Amao

Amao was appointed as the Chief of Air Staff. He was born in Enugu in the south east. However, the Chief of Air Staff hails from Osogbo Local Government Area of Osun State in the southwest.
