Litany Of Tributes As Lagos Elite Pay Final Respect To Former Agege Chairman, Odueso

  • Hon Sulaiman died on Sunday, September 12, 2021, and was buried on Monday, September 13 in accordance with Islamic rites.

There was no shortage of eulogies as the top brass of Lagos State converged to pay final respects to former Chairman of Agege Local Government Area, Hon Sulaiman Olanrewaju Odueso.

This was on the occasion of the 8th day Fidau Prayer held in honour of the deceased on September 19, 2021, at the Agege Local Government Secretariat.

As gathered by Eko Hot Blog, Hon Sulaiman died on Sunday, September 12, 2021 and was buried on Monday, September 13 in accordance with Islamic rites.

The 8th-day Fidau Prayers, anchored by Ansar-Ud-Deen Islamic society was attended by top government officials of the Lagos State Government, Legislators, and high-ranking officials within Agege Local Government Council.

Highlights of the event include recitation from the Holy Kuran, Fidau prayer for the deceased, brief biography of the deceased, a lecture, and prayers for the family and friends.

The Fidau prayer was led by Uztaz Kamorudeen Kolawole Ola, Missionary/Imam, Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Agege branch while the Master of Ceremony was Uztaz Abdul Rasaq Shis Afolabi, Islamic/Arabic teacher, Government Secondary School, Oyewole road, Agege.

Extolling the admirable qualities of the deceased, a lawmaker, Adeboye Mukolola described late Sulaiman as a tolerant and accommodating character who got along with everyone. He prayed to God to grant the family the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.

“I commit them into God’s hands, both the wives and the children. It is only God that can take care of them. Human beings can only do their own best, but God knows better.”

Similarly, Hon Yinka Ogundemi, member representing Agege Constituency II at Lagos State House of Assembly said Sulaiman was a different kind of politician who related freely with everyone regardless of ethnicity or social status.

“Hon Sulaiman Odueso was an amiable personality. He wasn’t someone that was difficult to relate with. He was always a simple person. He was also a very different kind of politician, He was all about conducting his business in a manner that did not negatively affect the next person. He was an easy-going person both in his private life and his political life.

Another colleague, Hon. Temidayo Adeyemi, describing the glowing personality of Hon Sulaiman said his unassuming personality and willingness to serve humanity played a vital factor with regard to why he was always entrusted with positions of leadership.

Adeyemi regretted the sad loss of a dear friend and a boon crony, but took firm solace in the fact that the deceased live a fulfilled life worthy of emulation. He prayed to God to comfort his family in these harrowing days.

His wife, Alhaja Olabisi Kehinde Odueso, re-echoed the same encomiums and adulations showered on late Sulaiman, laying withering emphasis on his kindheartedness and his capacity to accommodate people. She also expressed gratitude to the multitude of family, friends and colleagues who turned out to pay their final respects to the decorated public servant.

“This is so sad and its so sudden. My husband was a very loving and understanding. He was kindhearted and accomodating. I’m yet to get over the shock. We thank God for his life.”
