The incident occurred outside Volkov’s residence in Vilnius, where he was attacked with tear gas and a hammer, resulting in a broken arm, a forehead bruise, and a leg wound.

Speaking out about the attack, Volkov recounted being struck approximately 15 times on his leg with a hammer in a Telegram post. Despite the severity of the assault, he was discharged from the hospital after receiving treatment.

The investigation, categorized as a “minor health impairment” by Lithuanian police, is ongoing, with no suspects identified yet. Various police units, including the elite anti-terrorism unit, have been examining the crime scene near Volkov’s home.

Volkov, known for organizing anti-Kremlin protests and advocating for Navalny’s release from prison, has faced backlash from Russian authorities. The recent attack comes amidst ongoing tensions following Navalny’s death in February, which some attribute to Moscow’s negligence or deliberate actions.

International figures, including the U.S. Ambassador to Lithuania Kara McDonald, have condemned the attack, praising Volkov’s resilience and the Navalny team’s dedication to opposing Kremlin repression.
