Lookman Shines In Atalanta’s Last Serie A Game

Eko Hot Blog reports that Ademola Lookman scored one goal and assisted another in Atalanta’s 3-2 home defeat against Fiorentina, concluding the 2023/24 Serie A season on Sunday.

Lookman has been named in coach Finidi George’s 23-man squad to face South Africa and Benin Republic in crucial World Cup qualifiers on Friday and next Monday, respectively.
However, his arrival at the Super Eagles camp in Uyo was delayed by his club due to the Fiorentina game.
Six minutes after Andrea Belotti opened the scoring for the visitors, Lookman equalized for Atalanta and assisted Giorgio Scalvini’s goal in the 32nd minute to make it 2-2.
Belotti completed his brace just before halftime, securing a 3-2 victory for the visitors and completing the double over the Europa League winners.
Lookman and Atalanta had little to worry about, having already secured Champions League qualification for next season.
This was through their league performance, in addition to winning the Europa League.
Fiorentina finished eighth in Serie A, securing a spot in the Europa Conference League playoffs as they aim to avoid the disappointment of losing two consecutive finals next season.
Ademola Lookman, 26, had an outstanding season with Atalanta.
Scoring a hat-trick in the Europa League final against the unbeaten Bayer Leverkusen.
Hence, ending the season with 17 goals and 10 assists across all competitions.
He is expected to join the Super Eagles in Uyo today as they ramp up preparations for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Nigeria will play South Africa at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Friday, June 7.
Before traveling to Ivory Coast to face Benin Republic on Monday, June 10.
