A deadly explosion rocked a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s training facility on Friday morning, claiming the lives of at least three deputies and leaving the city reeling.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the blast occurred around 7:30 a.m. at the Biscailuz Center Academy Training compound in East Los Angeles, a site that houses the agency’s bomb squad and explosives unit.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that authorities say the explosion may have been linked to the handling of live explosives during a routine training drill. However, the exact cause remains under investigation.
Aerial footage from the scene showed a disturbing trail of destruction: shattered glass, damaged sheriff vehicles, and debris scattered across the training ground.
Emergency services rushed to the facility, with multiple police units, ambulances, and federal agents responding swiftly to the unfolding crisis.
A sheriff’s vehicle with a smashed rear windshield was seen parked within the compound, further suggesting the blast’s magnitude.
Though only three fatalities have been confirmed, law enforcement has not ruled out more casualties. Several individuals remain unaccounted for as rescue operations continue.
Reports indicate that a backpack and explosives truck were close to the scene when the explosion occurred, raising suspicions about a possible detonation mishap.
In response to the tragedy, U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli and LA County Sheriff Robert Luna contacted Attorney General Pam Bondi, who has since pledged full federal support.
“We have FBI and [Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives] agents on the ground to support,” Bondi posted on X, calling for prayers for the department.
The Biscailuz Center, known for its role in high-risk law enforcement training, has now been cordoned off pending the conclusion of the multi-agency investigation.
This incident marks one of the deadliest non-combat law enforcement accidents in recent California history.
Community members have begun laying wreaths and lighting candles outside the centre in a growing show of support for the fallen officers and their families.
Officials say the identities of the deceased will be released once families have been notified.

No arrests have been made, and foul play has not yet been ruled out, as investigators comb the site for clues.
More details are expected in the coming days as the Sheriff’s Department, FBI, and ATF jointly investigate the tragic explosion.
