LSMTL GM Calls for Professional Development

Engr. Olayinka Abdul, General Manager of the Lagos State Materials Testing Laboratory Agency (LSMTL), is calling on retrofit engineers to step up their professional development game.

She believes that by working together and supporting each other, they can prevent building disasters and ensure that structures are safe and durable.

Abdul emphasized the importance of collaboration and coordination among construction professionals, saying that it’s crucial for ensuring that buildings are designed and built to last.

She also highlighted the need for proper scrutiny and adherence to regulations to avoid using sub-standard materials that can put lives and investments at risk.

The President of the Nigerian Institute of Builders (NIOB), Bldr Adeoye Thomas, shared similar concerns about the frequent building collapses in Lagos State and stressed the importance of following due process.

He also invited the General Manager to their upcoming Annual General Meeting, which will be attended by six certified builders from the Agency.

Former NIOB President Engr. Adenike Saeed praised Abdul’s leadership skills and commitment to excellence, saying that she’s a shining example of women in leadership and a true role model for professionals in the built industry.
