LSMTL, LASU Partners for Engineering Innovation
Lagos State Materials Testing Laboratory Agency (LSMTL) and Lagos State University (LASU) have formed a groundbreaking partnership to revolutionize engineering education and promote technological advancement in the built industry.
The collaboration aims to establish a state-of-the-art Materials Test Centre within LASU’s Ojo Campus, providing hands-on training for engineering students and enhancing the quality and safety of construction materials.
During a recent meeting, LSMTL’s General Manager, Engr. Olayinka Abdul, emphasized the need for practical training in materials testing to prevent building disasters.
The proposed centre will facilitate experiential learning, research, and development, aligning with international best practices.

Vice Chancellor Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji Bello (represented by Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof. Adenike Boyo) hailed the initiative as a significant boost to engineering education, emphasizing the importance of experimental and digital aspects in ensuring durable buildings.
This partnership promises to augment knowledge exchange, foster economic development, and set the stage for future innovations in Lagos State’s infrastructure.
The initiative will also provide continuous capacity-building updates for students and professionals in the built industry, aligning with international standards.
The collaboration has garnered support from icons of developmental education, Heads of Departments, and Units of LSMTL, and is poised to make a lasting impact on the infrastructure of Lagos State and beyond.
