LSMTL Launches Training for Top-Notch Practices

Lagos State Materials Testing Laboratory Agency (LSMTL) has forged a partnership with the Association for Consulting Engineering in Nigeria (ACEN).

In a strategic move to bolster the role of Engineering and Materials Testing in Lagos’ infrastructure development, this collaboration is centered around enhancing knowledge and skill acquisition within the sector.

During a recent meeting with Engr. Funmi Kadiri, Managing Director of ACEN, LSMTL’s General Manager, Engr. Olayinka Abdul, emphasized that the durability and safety of structures in Lagos depend significantly on rigorous materials testing.

She stressed the necessity of aligning with best practices to ensure this critical aspect of engineering is continuously improved.

“This proposed training is an invaluable opportunity to enhance the ingenuity of our personnel in their chosen profession to stay abreast of the latest advancements in Materials Testing and Engineering practices.

The facilitators of the Association for Consulting Engineers of Nigeria have so much demonstrated their professional excellence to exude their wealth of expertise in posing tremendous resources at ensuring the realization of this vision,” said Engr. Abdul.

Highlighting the importance of this initiative, Engr. Abdul noted that the partnership with ACEN will create a strong network of professionals dedicated to advancing engineering standards in Lagos.

This will ensure that the state continues to prioritize quality, safety, and innovation in its infrastructure projects.

She further emphasized the importance of collaboration and knowledge sharing in fostering professional growth within the engineering sector, particularly in the construction industry.

Engr. Funmi Kadiri of ACEN pointed out that the training will focus on rigorous evaluation methods for construction materials, aimed at verifying their quality and preventing potential structural failures.

“I am reviewing the method and procedures of conducting tests; results will be adequately interpreted using samples for accuracy to explain the status of structures, for the safety of lives and investments,” she stated.
