LSTMB Graduates 90 Herbalists Across Diverse Fields
In its continuous effort to sustain quality healthcare service delivery to Lagosians as well as Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES Plus Developmental Agenda under the Health and Environment pillar, the Lagos State Traditional Medicine Board (LSEMB) has graduated 90 new practitioners across diverse fields.
The graduation ceremony was held at the Board’s premises after the completion of an intensive six-week compulsory orientation course by Traditional Birth Attendants, General Practice and Traditional Complementary and Alternative Medicine practitioners.
The Registrar of the Board, Prince Babatunde Adele, in his address at the event, emphasised the significance of safeguarding their certificates and refraining from sharing them with third parties. He equally encouraged graduates to inspire others to partake in capacity-building initiatives to foster continuous professional growth within the overall healthcare sector.
Adele said there is an ongoing collaboration process between the Lagos State Traditional Medicine Board and the Health Facilities Monitoring and Accreditation Agency (HEFAMAA) in the area of monitoring and compliance of facilities. Both Agencies, as members of the one Health Family, having different mandates with points of intersection in various mandates must seek a collaborative strategy to achieve the overall objective.
Urging practitioners to acquire a signpost for clear identification, the Registrar stated this simple yet impactful step not only ensures easy location of facilities but also contributes to the credibility and professionalism of practitioners, reminding them to take cognizance of their boundaries and limitations.
