Madrid Sweep Past Hapless Celta To Stay Clear In La Liga
Eko Hot Blog reports that Real Madrid regained their seven-point lead at the top of the La Liga table on Sunday with a comfortable 4-0 home win over struggling Celta Vigo, benefiting from two own goals in the process.
Vinicius Junior gave Madrid the lead midway through the first half at the Santiago Bernabeu by turning in a rebound on his second attempt. Celta Vigo, coached by former Madrid boss Rafa Benitez, then unraveled late in the game.

In the 79th minute, Antonio Rudiger’s powerful header cannoned off the crossbar and bounced back off Celta goalkeeper Vicente Guaita and into the net for an own goal, effectively sealing the points for the hosts.
Guaita was involved in another mix-up just minutes later, as Carlos Dominguez bundled a teasing Vinicius cross into his own net to make it 3-0.
Turkish starlet Arda Guler came off the bench to grab his first Madrid goal in stoppage time as the home side brushed off the absence of the suspended Jude Bellingham with ease.
Bellingham, the league’s top scorer this season with 16 goals, watched from the stands after his appeal against a two-match ban for his red card against Valencia last weekend was dismissed.
Despite dropping points in three of their past five league games, Madrid had gained ground on second-placed Girona recently, as the surprise challengers’ unlikely title bid began to taper off.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side are now 22 games unbeaten in La Liga and eight points above reigning champions Barcelona, who sit in third place, just behind Girona.
Celta Vigo, meanwhile, remain in 17th position and just two points above the relegation zone after this heavy defeat.
