EKO HOT BLOG reports that Manchester United captain Harry Maguire, appeared to poke fun at team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo on social media but has come out and claimed he liked an Instagram post in error.
Harry Maguire has risked another bust-up with Cristiano Ronaldo after appearing to mock his Manchester United team-mate on social media.
Maguire ‘liked’ a post on Instagram which repeated a newspaper claim that Ronaldo wants to leave Old Trafford because he’s being forced to accept a huge wage cut.
United’s failure to secure Champions League football means Erik Ten Hag’s squad will see their salaries reduced by 25% ahead of the new campaign. It means Ronaldo will be more than £125,000-a-week out of pocket if he remains at United.
Maguire appeared to poke fun at Ronaldo when liking the post, but has sincee claimed he did it by mistake and has now deleted the message.
The England defender endured a miserable season last time out following a string of woeful performances which saw fuming United supporters call for him to be dropped and axed as captain.
To make matters worse reports emerged of him and Ronaldo being involved in a power struggle which left the United dressing room divided.
It is understood Ronaldo wanted to replace Maguire as skipper, but the centre back was unwilling to relinquish the armband.
United denied the claims and former interim boss Ralf Rangnick kept Maguire as captain until the end of the season.
