The chaotic encounter at Estadio do Dragao saw Marcus Rashford put United ahead in the 7th minute with a low drive that slipped past Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa. Rasmus Højlund, starting his first match of the season, then doubled United’s lead with a composed finish after a swift attack in the 20th minute.
Porto responded quickly. A near own-goal by United’s Noussair Mazraoui led to a rebound that Brazilian winger Pepe nodded home.
Just 14 minutes after going 2-0 up, United saw their lead erased as Samu Omorodion headed in Joao Mario’s cross to level the score.
Omorodion struck again five minutes after halftime, giving Porto the lead with a powerful near-post finish following another Pepe assist, leaving United’s defence exposed.

United’s hopes took a further blow when captain Bruno Fernandes was sent off for the second time in as many matches, this time for a second yellow card due to a high boot with nine minutes left.
While his previous red card had been overturned, there was no doubt about this one.
Despite being reduced to 10 men, United pressed for a late equalizer, and Maguire’s towering header delivered it. However, the draw extended United’s poor form, with only three wins in their first 10 matches of the season and another European away game where they failed to secure victory despite scoring three goals.
