Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, on Thursday, urged the people of Owu kingdom in Ogun State to rally behind the new monarch of the ancient town.
Obasanjo, who is the Balogun of Owu kingdom, also prayed that he does not want to witness another Olowu of Owu, Abeokuta in his lifetime after the emergence of the new Oba.

The National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party has constituted a caretaker committee that will steer the activities of the Osun State chapter of the party for three months.
The party’s Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, who announced this in Abuja, on Thursday, explained that the decision was sequel to the expiration of the tenure of the previous caretaker committee and is in line with the powers of the NWC under the PDP Constitution, 2017 (as amended).
He said, “The National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP has, on behalf of the National Executive Committee, constituted a caretaker committee to pilot the affairs of the Osun State chapter of the party with effect from today, Thursday, August 18, 2022.”
The committee has Dr. Adekunle Akindele as chairman, Mr Niyi Owolade, Chief Mrs. Ayo Awolowo, Dr. B. Salami, Mr Adetoye Ogunboyega and Alh. Razaq Oyelani as members, while Mr Hashim Abioye will serve as the secretary.

The Police Command in Anambra have arrested a four-man suspected syndicate comprising two males and two females who specialised in sex blackmail and extortion of money from their victims.
DSP Toochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) disclosed this in a statement issued to journalists in Awka on Thursday.
Ikenga said the gang specialised in taking nude pictures of victims and threaten to post them online unless they paid money.

Members of the Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) at the Federal Medical Centre, Owo, have begun a two-week warning strike over dearth of personnel.
President of the Owo FMC ARD, Dr Olaopa Olutobi Gideon, said the strike action was inevitable as they were working ‘under dire stressful conditions.’
Olaopa said there were only 80 resident doctors and Health Officers in the employment of the hospital.
Olaopa said no employment has been carried out in the hospital since 2018.
He said the hospital used to have about 300 doctors and house officers but many of them have left the system.
